Ingredients

  • 300 grams curry (cleaned and roughly chopped)
  • 4-5 green chillies (washed and chopped)
  • 1-1.5 cups saffron
  • 1 inch ginger (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped, preferably watery ones)
  • Handful of fresh coriander (optional: mint)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Wash the curry thoroughly and peel it using a peeler.
  2. Cut the curry into four pieces to easily remove the seed.
  3. Roughly chop the peeled curry.
  4. Wash and chop the green chillies (4-5 should be enough).
  5. Prepare 1-1.5 cups of saffron.
  6. Finely chop a 1-inch piece of ginger.
  7. Wash and chop two tomatoes. Opt for watery tomatoes for better flavor.
  8. Chop some fresh coriander. Mint is also an option, but not necessary for this recipe.

Blending the Chutney

  1. We'll use a blender, a common kitchen appliance, to make things easy.
  2. Add all the chopped ingredients (curry, chillies, ginger, tomatoes, coriander) to the blender.
